Each member of the Gomel-Burton team represents a specific area of expertise covering all steps between the identification of properties to the completion of construction. This ability to handle a project from start to finish ensures streamlined processes on all Gomel-Burton projects.

Chris Gomel has been identifying potential construction and real estate development opportunities for the company since its inception. His experience in land acquisition and general construction make him an essential member of the Gomel-Burton team, and his education in taxation and accounting have proven to be a major asset in determining project feasability.

His construction career began as a regional manager for Suncoast/Hemphill Construction.  After 5 years with the company, he started his own general construction company GCU, LLC.  In 2005, GCU and Burton Construction were both brought under common ownership as part of the Gomel-Burton group.  

Mr. Gomel received a Bachelors in Professional Accountancy and a Masters in Taxation from Mississippi State University. He is a board-certified General Contractor for the State of Mississippi .

Philip Burton shares responsibility for the identification of potential construction and real estate development opportunities for the company. His experience in the entitlement process includes resort condominiums, retail centers, apartments, office buildings, and subdivisions. Over the past six years, he has also developed an expertise in multifamily construction and development. His knowledge of the workings of municipalities and experience in navigating approval processes have made him a driving force behind the company and ensured the success of Gomel-Burton projects.

Prior to forming Gomel-Burton Construction, Mr. Burton worked for Burton Brothers Management Company, a Real Estate management and finance company in Mobile, Alabama. Mr. Burton also owned and operated Burton Construction and completed numerous residential and commercial contracts in both Mobile and Baldwin Counties.

Mr. Burton is a member of the Alabama Home Builders Association and a licensed Residential Homebuilder in Alabama and Mississippi. He is also a board-certified General Contractor for the State of Alabama.

Bill Ishee – Chief Financial Officer

With over 20 years in construction and development financing and accounting, Chief Financial Officer Bill Ishee brings a wealth of experience to Gomel-Burton. Ishee is in charge of budgets, forecasts and financial statements and on the development side, prepares budget projections and arranges financing for company projects.

Prior to joining Gomel-Burton, he worked as Senior Vice President, Treasurer and Controller for The Mitchell Company in Mobile, Alabama for nearly 20 years, through both the real estate boom and busts of the 1980's. Ishee contributed to the eventual rebound of the company during a period in which revenues grew from almost $10 to $100 million.

Ishee was also CFO for Magnum Capital, a Florida retail and resort condominium developer. A Certified Public Accountant, he received a Bachelors degree in Accounting from the University of South Alabama.

Justin Vance - Construction Manager

Justin Vance is responsible for all construction operations, ensuring the integrity of Gomel-Burton projects. Before leaving the RSA Tower in downtown Mobile as a Project Engineer for Archer Western, he served a variety of roles on numerous projects for Turner Construction in Atlanta.

Mr. Vance attended Auburn University and completed their Building Science program, receiving a Bachelors of Science Degree in Building Construction. After graduation, he worked for Turner Construction in Atlanta on projects such as the Bobby Dodd Football Stadium at Georgia Tech and The Lodge at Sea Island for Sea Island Company. Before he left Turner, Mr. Vance administered over 500 million dollars in construction contracts and held positions as Assistant Project Manager, Field Engineer, Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent.
